I only have one Mailbox Monday book, but it is a good one! While on a business trip to Chicago last week, I had time for a quick visit to the Art Institute where they had the most incredible special exhibit on Victorian Photocollage. Being an avid scrapbooker myself and fascinated by collage in particular, I was mesmerized by the exhibit.
So I was very excited to pick up a souvenir:

The Marvelous Album of Madame B: Being the Handiwork of a Victorian Lady of Considerable Talent, a replica of one of the main scrapbooks on display.
Here is an example of "Victorian Photocollage":

The Chicago Art Institute is wonderful! Did you have a chance to see the Chagall windows?
Enjoy your literary souvenir!
gorgeous book, and I bet the exhibit was even better! Happy reading
I was going to ask you if you saw the Chagall windows! I see DCMetroreader beat me : ) It's a wonderful museum. Love the Renoirs and Seurat, as well. Happy reading!
I love scrapbooking too - what a treasure. :)
Here's my Mailbox! ~ Wendi
Awesome! I live in the Chicago suburbs but I rarely make it down town. I've been craving an Art Institute visit and that sounds like an awesome exhibit!
Both the art exhibit and the book look fascinating.
I spent several hours at the museum -- including the Chagall windows. Amazing. I concentrated on European Modern , pre-1960 because that was an area I am less familiar with. And the furniture rooms because I love those.
But the Victorian exhibit was incredible. I laughed out loud a couple of times, the pages were so clever.
Chicago in general is such an amazing city. I walked all over the central area and along the lake and just loved it.
Nice! :-)
